Hi Apple community, I'm struggling with an issue and I need user and/or expert input. I presently have a 2012 retina MacBook Pro, 2.5GH processor, 8 GB RAM. I purchased it in early 2014 to use for school and personal use. My main uses are web surfing, email, lite photo editing, lite movie editing (using iMovie), creating word docs and working with spreadsheets, often multitasking between several of these apps.
I love the system, it's fast, and the Retina screen is great. Here's my conundrum - would a 2014 MacBook Air with a 1.5 GH processor and 4GB RAM be as good as or better than the 2012 MacBook Pro?
The reason that I'm even considering the 2014 Air is the long battery life, but I don't want to sacrifice performance for just a few hours of battery life. Also, my budget is limited to about $850, which would come from the sale of the retina MacBook Pro, which means I'm looking at the refurb Air units from Apple's refurb store (no extra customization). Hi there, i'm looking to but a new laptop for my final year at architecture school. I've been a pc user and been using asus. I really like asus but for the type of work that i do now, it's been too slow, so in need of an upgrade. I work a lot with graphics software photoshop/illustrator/in design as well as 3d modeling and rendering software rhino/3ds max and will be making and editing films on adobe premiere pro and after effects. I have been doing all that on my 3 year old asus m50v but i need something more powerful!!
I thought i was going to get a macbook pro retina for sure, but now starting to doubt it. I don't care about the name and the looks, as long as it's not something really big and heavy because i do travel a lot with my laptop. But i need something dependable and powerful. 1 which pcs compare to the macbook pro retina for my uses?! For roughly the same price or less?
2 should i stay faithful to asus and get either the G o the N line?! Or other pcs are better? 3 dell precision/lenovo thinkpad/dell xps??
I never considered any other brand besides asus until yesterday and doing some research. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Anyone with personal experience with the laptops or programs please help me choose the best thing!!!! Thank you in advance. What is your budget?
